What Our Travelers Say

Real stories from real adventurers who trusted EBC Trek Nepal with their journey.

“Standing at Everest Base Camp with the Khumbu Icefall cracking in front of us — that moment is burned into my memory forever. Our guide Dorje managed the acclimatization perfectly. Nobody in our group of 10 had any serious altitude issues. The day-by-day pacing was spot on.”

“We did the Gokyo + EBC combination trek for our anniversary. 18 days of the most beautiful scenery we have ever seen. The Gokyo Lakes are an unreal shade of turquoise, and crossing Cho La Pass was the hardest and most rewarding day of our lives. EBC Trek Nepal handled every detail — permits, lodges, porters — all we had to do was walk.”

“Third time to EBC — first time with this team. They are the best I have used. The luxury trek option is worth every dollar if your knees are not what they used to be. The helicopter from Gorak Shep gave us aerial views of the Icefall that I will never forget. Premium lodges at Namche and Tengboche were genuinely comfortable.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the Everest Base Camp trek cost in 2026?
A guided EBC trek costs between $1,200 and $3,500 per person depending on the style. The Classic EBC starts at $1,200 and includes permits, guide, porters, meals, teahouse accommodation, and Kathmandu-Lukla flights. Budget options exist below $1,000 but cut corners on guides and safety. Luxury options with helicopter return and premium lodges run $3,000-$3,500. On top of the package price, budget $200-$400 for tips, snacks, hot drinks, charging devices, and personal expenses on the trail.
How difficult is the Everest Base Camp trek?
EBC is rated Moderate-Hard. There is no technical climbing — you walk on established trails and sleep in teahouses. The difficulty comes from altitude (up to 5,545m at Kala Patthar), duration (12 days of walking), and consecutive days of exertion. With 2-3 months of cardio training, proper acclimatization days, and an experienced guide, most reasonably fit people complete it successfully. Around 90% of guided trekkers reach Base Camp.
What is the best month to trek to Everest Base Camp?
October and November are the best months — clear skies, stable weather, and excellent mountain visibility. March through May is the second-best window, with warmer temperatures and rhododendrons in bloom at lower elevations. April and May coincide with Everest climbing season, so you may see expedition teams at Base Camp. December through February is possible but bitterly cold. June through September is monsoon season — cloudy, rainy, and not recommended.
Can I get altitude sickness on the EBC trek?
Yes, altitude sickness (Acute Mountain Sickness or AMS) is a real risk above 3,000m and the primary health concern on the trek. Symptoms include headache, nausea, dizziness, and fatigue. Our itineraries include mandatory acclimatization days at Namche Bazaar (3,440m) and Dingboche (4,358m). Guides carry pulse oximeters, monitor your health daily, and follow strict protocols. Diamox (acetazolamide) is available as a preventive measure. Proper hydration and a slow, steady pace are the best prevention.
Is the Lukla flight safe?
Lukla's Tenzing-Hillary Airport is famously dramatic — a short runway on a mountainside at 2,840m. It has a reputation as dangerous, but modern safety standards have improved significantly. Airlines use Twin Otter and Dornier aircraft specifically designed for mountain flying. Flights only operate in good weather — delays are common and should be built into your schedule. The flight itself is 35 minutes from Kathmandu and is a spectacular experience. Helicopter alternatives are available if you prefer.
